Our group revisited Kashmir in december 2006. Group visited the children affected
by the earthquake. Many had returned back to school. Ashiana orphange set up by Khubaib foundation (uttar sheesha) accomodates
400 widows and kids. Group also visited the First Step school at the UNHCR CAMP at Dhanna Panni. The pride,spirit and
hope of kids had was amazing (see pictures).
One small heart-breaking story: Our group met six
young brothers who had been brought into the orphange by their schoolmaster. His only request was that they be kept together
and not seperated. These brave boys have no living relatives.
